Client identity is described by market position rather than by name, in line with our confidentiality commitments.
Precision extruded aluminium modules for a premium UK home appliance brand, where tight section tolerances support the fit and feel the brand is known for.
The challenge
Premium appliance brands buy precision because their products are judged by how they fit together and how they feel in the hand. Module sections therefore have to hold geometry tightly enough that assembly is silent — no gaps, no force, no shimming — while the visible surfaces stay consistent across production runs shipped to a market with high cosmetic expectations.
What we did
Tolerance capability used where it changes the assembly
Inner and outer diameters held to ±0.04 mm and walls to ±0.02 mm, well inside the ±0.10 mm and ±0.05 mm GB reference. On a premium assembly this is the difference between parts that drop together and parts that need persuasion.
±0.005 mm precision cut-to-length
Modules arrived ready for assembly, so the customer's line was not trimming or shimming before fitting.
Finish consistency for a cosmetic market
The polish-free 6063 route gives a uniform substrate going into blasting and anodising, which is what allows a visible surface to match between batches shipped months apart.
Free DFM review before tooling
Our engineers reviewed the section for wall uniformity, corner radii and machinability and came back within one working day — at no cost and before any tooling was committed.
Results
| Result | Measured |
|---|---|
| ±0.04 mm | Inner / outer diameter, versus ±0.10 mm GB |
| ±0.005 mm | Precision cut-to-length |
| 1 day | Turnaround on free DFM review |
- Precision aluminium modules supplied for premium home appliances.
- Module geometry held tightly enough to assemble without shimming or trimming.
- Visible surfaces consistent across production runs.
- Section reviewed and improved through free DFM before tooling.
Why it held in production
Every stage of this programme ran inside our own plant — tooling design, extrusion, CNC machining, surface treatment and assembly. That is the reason the result repeated rather than appearing once on a first article: when a parameter needs adjusting, we change it and verify it the same day instead of negotiating through a subcontractor. We hold ISO 9001 across the process, with wall thickness at ±0.02 mm against a GB standard of ±0.05 mm and cut-to-length at ±0.005 mm.
