Custom Aluminium Enclosure Manufacturing for Milan

Milano · Lombardia (Lombardy)

Tooling design, extrusion, precision CNC machining, surface treatment and assembly — one Shenzhen source factory serving Milan buyers directly.

Serving: Milan (Milano), covering Lombardia (Lombardy).

Milan is Italy's design and industrial capital, with architectural lighting, professional audio, domestic appliances and fashion-adjacent electronics all produced in Lombardy's manufacturing belt. Design houses drive the specification and expect a supplier who can hold a decorative finish across a long production life.

What we supply to Milan customers

Every enclosure starts from your drawing. We control the whole chain inside one plant, which is what allows tight tolerances and consistent finishing to hold across repeat batches:

  • Tooling design & die development — 4–5 days for a new die, with free DFM review before anything is cut.
  • Aluminium profile extrusion — two automated extrusion lines, 3,500 t annual profile capacity.
  • Precision CNC machining — 30 CNC centres for milling, drilling, tapping and contouring.
  • Surface treatment — blasting, anodising, powder coating, brushing, silk-screen and laser engraving in-house.
  • Stamping & final assembly — 10 stamping presses plus assembly lines, so parts can ship as a completed sub-assembly.

Typical enclosure applications in Milan

  • Architectural and decorative lighting profiles
  • Professional audio equipment housings
  • Appliance and kitchen device shells
  • Display and exhibition system profiles

Why Milan buyers source from our Shenzhen plant

Three things decide whether a housing programme works: whether the tolerance holds in volume, whether the finish matches batch to batch, and whether the supplier actually owns the process. Our numbers:

CapabilityOur standardReference
Inner / outer diameter tolerance±0.04 mmGB standard ±0.10 mm
Wall thickness tolerance±0.02 mmGB standard ±0.05 mm
Cut-to-length accuracy±0.005 mmLine-feed ready
Minimum stable wall0.3 mmVolume production

Mass production start24 hours after approval—

We also run a polish-free 6063 process: primary billet from a state-owned mill, ceramic-filtered, degassed and homogenised, which removes sand holes and weld lines at the material level. The profile goes straight to 180# blasting and anodising with no polishing stage — typically around 15% less finishing cost. We deliberately do not take high-pressure die-casting work; all our capacity goes into extruded profile and precision machining.

Materials we specify for Milan programmes

Enclosures we ship to this market are typically Architectural and decorative lighting profiles and Professional audio equipment housings — the grades below are the ones we quote for Milan most often. We do not silently substitute alloy to hit a price: if your drawing names a grade, that is what goes on the press.

Alloy & temperWhy we specify itTypical Milan application
6063-T5 / T6The default for enclosures: finest surface after anodising, best extrudability for thin and complex sections, thermal conductivity around 200–210 W/m·KArchitectural and decorative lighting profiles
6061-T6Higher strength and better tapped-hole performance; the choice when the housing carries load or threads take torqueProfessional audio equipment housings
6005A / 6082Structural sections and heavier walls where stiffness matters more than surface finishFrames, brackets and structural members
6060-T6Very good extrudability for wide, thin and multi-void sectionsHeat-sink profiles and wide panels

All billet is primary aluminium from a state-owned mill — ceramic-filtered, degassed and homogenised — so the material is clean before it reaches the press instead of being corrected afterwards. Mill certificates can travel with each shipment.

Milan customer questions

Can I have custom aluminium enclosures made in China and shipped to Milan?

Yes. All production happens at our own plant in Guangming District, Shenzhen — tooling, extrusion, CNC machining, surface treatment and assembly are all in-house, so there is no subcontractor between you and the press. Finished enclosures ship to Milan by sea or air with full export documentation. Because we are the factory rather than a trading company, you get factory-direct pricing and can audit the line yourself by video at any time.

How long does delivery to Milan take?

Sea freight to Genoa and Trieste runs about 30–38 days to Genoa; air freight is typically 5–8 days via MXP. These are transit times — production is on top. New tooling takes 4–5 days and samples ship in 7 days, so a first order from drawing approval to arrival in Milan is usually well inside two months by sea, and around three weeks by air. For repeat programmes we can hold extruded profile stock at our 3,000 m² warehouse and release machined batches on call.

Do you handle small or prototype quantities for Milan customers?

Yes. We do not force a fixed piece-count minimum. The minimum is worked out per project from your profile cross-section, and before a die is cut we can machine prototype quantities from solid bar so you can validate fit and finish without tooling spend. Once the design is frozen and volume justifies it, we move you to extrusion — and if a single order reaches 2 tonnes, the tooling fee is fully waived.

How do we handle the time difference with Milan?

CET (UTC+1) / CEST (UTC+2 in summer) — 7 hours behind Shenzhen. In practice this works in your favour: send an enquiry at your close of business and it is waiting for us at the start of our day, so a quotation is usually in your inbox the next morning. For anything urgent, WhatsApp is the fastest channel — +86 150 1359 7706. Factory visits from Milan are welcome, and live video audits work well when travel is not practical.

What are the payment terms, and how is tooling charged on Milan orders?

New customers usually start with a 30% deposit and 70% before shipment by T/T; established programmes can move to monthly settlement. Tooling is quoted separately and paid once, and when a single order reaches 2 tonnes the tooling fee is refunded in full. If a revision you request needs the die modified, we do not raise a second tooling charge.

What happens if a batch fails inspection after it arrives in Milan?

Every batch ships with its dimensional report and inspection record, so a claim starts from shared data instead of opinions. Where the fault is ours we re-make the parts at our cost and send the replacement on the fastest routing available; where it is a specification gap we say so and quote the fix. Because every process is in one plant, corrective action is implemented and verified within days rather than negotiated through a subcontractor.

Will you sign an NDA before I send drawings from Milan?

Yes, and we will sign yours if you already have one. Drawings are held under restricted access inside our engineering group, tooling made for you is run only for your parts, and we do not publish customer programmes by name — which is why the case studies on this site describe clients by market position rather than by brand.

Which drawing formats do you accept, and who do I deal with from Milan?

STEP, IGES, SolidWorks, DWG or a dimensioned PDF — any of them is enough for a free DFM review and quotation. You deal directly with the engineers who run the process rather than a sales intermediary, and technical questions are answered in English within one working day. Send the drawing with your target quantity and annual volume and we will tell you honestly whether extrusion is the right route.

Technical questions from Milan engineers

What dimensional tolerances can you hold on enclosures shipped to Milan?

Wall thickness is held to ±0.02 mm and inner/outer diameter to ±0.04 mm, against GB reference values of ±0.05 mm and ±0.10 mm. Cut-to-length runs ±0.005 mm for automated feeding, CNC-milled mounting faces reach about 0.05 mm flatness, and machined hole positions are typically ±0.05 mm. We state which of these applies to each feature on your drawing before tooling starts, so there is no disagreement at first article.

How thin can the wall be before the section becomes unstable?

We run 0.3 mm walls in stable volume production, but a thin wall is a design decision rather than a headline number — the limit depends on how wide the flat is, whether the section is hollow, and how the part is held during machining. Send the cross-section and we will tell you where the wall can go thin and where it still needs metal behind it for machining rigidity.

Can you help with the thermal design of a housing for Milan programmes?

Yes. Send the target thermal resistance and the available envelope and our engineers will propose a fin pitch, thickness and height that the press can actually hold in volume — extruded fins typically run 0.3–1.2 mm thick with heights up to about 60 mm. Where the design allows, we integrate the mounting pad into the profile so there is no bolted seam in the heat path, and the interface face is CNC-milled rather than left as-extruded.

How do you keep anodised colour consistent from batch to batch?

Colour consistency starts at the billet, not in the dye bath. We run primary 6063 from a state-owned mill with ceramic filtration, on-line degassing and homogenising, so there are no sand holes or weld lines to show through the finish. Anodising parameters are controlled per load, each batch is checked with a spectrophotometer, and we keep a sealed reference sample from your approved first article so repeat runs are matched against the part you signed off rather than against a number.

Do you offer EMI shielding or electrically conductive finishes?

Standard anodising is an insulator, so for shielding we specify conductive oxidation, selective masking that leaves gasket lands as bare metal, or nickel plating on the contact faces. We also machine shielding shoulders and grounding features into the profile itself. Tell us the attenuation you need and where the joints sit, and we will propose a combination that still works after assembly.

Can you machine threads, inserts and sealing features?

Yes. Our 30 CNC centres drill, tap, mill pockets and contour parts to your drawing, and we fit press-fit or heat-set inserts, machine O-ring grooves and hold the flatness a gasket needs. Sealing to an IP rating is a design question as much as a machining one, so send the target rating with the drawing and we will advise on groove geometry and fastener pitch before the die is cut.

Inspection, measurement and the paperwork you receive

For Milan shipments the measurements that decide acceptance are recorded per batch rather than sampled occasionally:

  • Dimensional — 2D vision measurement for profile cross-sections, and a coordinate measuring machine for machined features.
  • Film thickness — eddy-current gauge on every anodising load.
  • Colour — spectrophotometer against your approved reference, with batch records kept so drift can be trended.
  • Material — mill certificate traceable to the billet heat.
  • Documentation — dimensional report, inspection record and material certificate supplied with the shipment; Form E / Form F / RCEP and material declarations on request for customs clearance.
