Engineering

Which drawing formats do you accept, and will you review my design before tooling?

We accept STEP, IGES, SolidWorks, AutoCAD DWG/DXF and dimensioned PDF. Our engineers review the feasibility of your 3D cross-section free of charge and suggest structural improvements before any tooling starts.

Send whichever format your team already works in — almost everything is usable:

  • 3D: STEP (.stp / .step), IGES (.igs), SolidWorks (.sldprt), Parasolid (.x_t)
  • 2D: AutoCAD (.dwg / .dxf), dimensioned PDF
  • Reference only: photos, hand sketches or a physical sample — we can reverse-engineer and produce a formal drawing for your approval

Every enquiry goes through a free DFM (design for manufacture) review before you spend anything. Our engineers check wall-thickness uniformity, corner radii, hollow-chamber feasibility, tongue-and-groove alignment and whether the section can actually be pushed through a die at your required tolerance — then come back with suggested changes if we see a risk.

Two things that most often trigger a suggestion: walls thinner than 0.3 mm in a long unsupported span, and deep screw bosses that would need excessive machining time. Both are usually fixable with a small geometry change that costs nothing at design stage but a lot after tooling is cut.

We sign an NDA before you share files if you prefer — see NDA and tooling ownership.

Still have a question? Send your drawing and we will answer within one working day.
